ATCO Australia's state of the art Blue Flame Kitchen facility at our Jandakot Operations Centre is used to teach the safe, effective and efficient use of natural gas.
Our Blue Flame Kitchen Schools Program is an engaging and interactive program designed for students in Year Five. Students learn about the journey of natural gas in Western Australia, actions to take if they smell gas, how to safely use gas appliances around the home and how to use gas appliances in the kitchen to cook nutritious meals.
Our School Program excursion provides students with a range of hands on and real world learning opportunities in our purpose-built demonstration kitchen, which includes familiar gas appliances and an alfresco edible garden. The program supports cooking skills, gas and kitchen safety as well as healthy eating and nutrition, all ensuring alignment to the Western Australian school curriculum.

Gas Safety
With many appliances at home (and in the Blue Flame Kitchen!) using gas, we?ll demonstrate important safety tips and information, so students know what to do if there is a gas leak at home.
Understanding The Gas Network
The natural gas that powers our everyday in WA, makes a long journey from the gas fields up North, to our appliances via a series of large distribution pipes and in the ATCO Australia gas distribution network. With over 14,500km of pipes making up our network, we tell the story of how gas makes its journey to over 800,000 homes and businesses within Western Australia.
