ATCO Australia is committed to maintaining our gas distribution network to the highest possible standard of safety and reliability. Part of this commitment involves the proactive replacement of our network. Due to sections of our network that consist of PVC piping its end of life, we are replacing the network with new Polyethylene gas pipes.
This work is divided into stages and usually takes about 3 months to be completed. It involves laying the new gas main in the street and then connecting each individual meter already on the gas network to the new gas pipe.
We will need to access your meter box within your property boundary. We aim to complete the work as efficiently as possible with minimal disturbance to each household. Upon completion of the work, you will receive a card in your letter box or meter box to advise that the process has been completed. Should you be waiting on reinstatements to be completed past the 15 business days waiting time, please get in touch with us and we will endeavour to complete it ASAP.
No, these works are part of our proactive replacement program and no costs will be transferred to you.
No, our works will have no effect on your gas bill. All of the work is carried out before the meter box, so it will not be charged on your account. We are replacing our network like for like, so the pressure and supply tariff of gas will not change as a result of network replacement works.
Call 13 13 52 immediately if you are inside, if you are outside, you can report a gas leak online.
Once the work is complete, we aim to return within 15 business days to reinstate your property and leave it as it was found. If it has been more than 15 business days, please contact us via the enquiry form and we will endeavour to complete it ASAP.
These works are divided into different stages and each stage takes about three months to be complete.
This means that you will notice us in your area for three months (depending on the stage) but does not mean that we will be working at your house for three months. We will only be working within your property boundary for 1 ? 2 days.
If you have a complaint about the works, you can fill out a complaint form via the link below.
